Snow train - Europe

Apparently the C&TS and Mid Continent are not the only ones to operate steam rotary plows in recent years. This one is also self propelled, when necessary. Apparently took place in 1997.

That's quite a rig ...Is that an eight foot tall man or 18" drivers ???

Xrot 9213 is a gem! It's perhaps the only operational steam rotary snowplow in Europe. It is based at Pontresina (Switzerland) and used occasionally for clearing snow on the Bernina Bahn and other sections of the Rhaetische Bahn.

It is a self-propelled snowplow (with small drivers). The usual mode of operation is to operate in tandem with an electric rail car and save its power for the rotary mechanism.

P.S. Don't forget the WP&Y has an operational rotary snowplow too!
