Lost Locomotives - The Sea Hunters

Has anyone approached Clive Cussler about looking for submerged locomotives? I sometimes get to see his The Sea Hunters program on the History Channel while laying over in the hotel, and they really go to a lot of effort to find historic shipwrecks. Newer forms of sonar and radar have made the quest easier.

Several years ago, Cussler mounted an expedition to determine if there really was a locomotive still extant in Sand Creek in eastern Colorado, but didn't find anything. As I recall, he received mostly derision and not much help from rail historians.

Given that finding a submerged locomotive in a river should be somewhat easier than a ship in the wide Atlantic, it would seem something he might be interested in. How about that SP 4-4-0 supposedly in the California river?

I wrote a letter to the attorney for NUMA whose address is listed as contact suggesting we research / explore to find the Recent Unpleasantless era locomotives shoved into the Atchafalaya Bayou as the yankees approached. No answer. Shouldn't be too hard to determine where tracks interstected the bayou at that point in history.

Didn't Dirk Pitt rescue a Pullman car from underwater - maybe the Hudson River?? I think it is on display in his Washington airplane hanger/bachelor pad. I wonder who he got to do the restoration?

Came from out of a tunnel. I hear he is on Glenn Guerra's waiting list.

Ahh yes- the Manhattan Limited.

What I REALLY what to know is what was done with the Titanic after they figured out the byzantium wasn't there- restored (for a lot of $$$ I bet) and in a museum I hope.
