Post subject: Sellers Injectors; Lunk safeties

Does anyone have technical information on repairing Sellers injectors? I'm particularly interested in the thin brass ring sometimes found against the sealing shoulder of the steam nozzle. Any condemning limits on nozzle/tubes?
We have been keeping our Lunkenheimer safety valves operating based on intuition. Does anyone have data about the dimensions and clearances of the valve disc "lifting" portion?
Any help would be appreciated.
Best Regards,
Jack Anderson,
Mt. Rainier Scenic RR

Any ring that may be under the seating surface of either the steam nozzle, or the delivery tube, is not a Sellers part. From Sellers, the nozzles seat directly against the body. A common problem with sellers lifting injectors is that the seat under the steam nozzle will get steam cut and leak.
When this seating surface is faced down to clean up those cuts, a ring is sometimes put in to maintain the distance between the seats of the nozzles, so the proportions of the assembly remain correct.
The Strasburg Rail Road sells reproduction Sellers non lifting injectors, and replacement nozzles and parts. Backshop Enterprizes is working on reproduction Sellers lifting injectors.
