Proof that shelter for a steam locomotive is worth the cost. This CPR D4g 4-6-0 hasn't been painted in years, yet looks just out of the shop, at the Canadian Railway Museum. The Museum's engines that have sat outside have been painted several times and still look bad.

This is a subject that really bugs me ...watching one of a kind heritage equipment being reclaimed by mother nature! IMHO there is nothing that indicates the amateur nature of a club type operation better than the "dead line". It is even worse when the "board" recognizes the need and authorizes funds for shelter and somehow "they" never get around to even considering it ...there is alway something of higher priority! Then to watch multi-thousand dollar paint jobs weathering away ... persons unclear of the concept, a sure sign of the lack of a future or an indication that we really don't care ????
