Now that our caboose has been identified, does any one have information on it. We just purchased it from a privte owner and as soon as our last coach is completed its next. Roller bearing trucks and a trip to Lorain are in order. I know the rollers aren't correct but it's the easiest way to get it to the shop. We won't scrap the orginals. irss@eriecoast.com |

We at the Steam Railroading Institute are starting restoration of are PM A909. We have a few builders photos and drawings. You probly be able to get alot from the PM Historical Society. Are caboose only needs som miner repairs to it and is pretty much original if you want to stop in and take a look. Are times we are open are on are web page. > Now that our caboose has been identified, > does any one have information on it. Wow, I guess I'm officially "the identifier" ! Been called a lot of things, but never that! Fritz Milhaupt has been labering now for better than 8 years on getting photos and listings of preserved PM equipment onto the PMHS website, and has listings on what other PM Cabeese survive, although I haven't been able to tell him yet about yours! Now counting yours, I believe there are the following: A911 Hinton, WV City Pool A913 Barboursville, WV East of town, US Rt 60 at Cyrus Creek Road, Donahue Bros., from Milton, West Virginia A915 Yellow Springs, OH Rails-to-Trails A916 Philippi, WV Alderson-Broaddus College, A922 Xenia, OH On display in park. A924 Knox, PA Knox and Kane Railroad A951 Sanford, MI Sanford Historical Society Museum, US-10 A953 Claysville, PA State Rt 3017, 1.6 miles south of US 40 A954 Yellow Springs, OH Rails-to-Trails Bike Rental A961 Nappanee?, IN Privately owned A971 North Vernon, IN As B&O C1984, City Hall A977 Saginaw, MI Saginaw Railway Museum A981 Thurmont, MD A984 Hinton, WV City Park A989 Jacksontown, OH On the Buckeye Central, burned With the following restored to PM paint: A986 in Grand Haven, Michigan A967 in Holland, Michigan A950 in Muskegon, Michigan A909 with SRI in Owosso, Michigan Now if I could just figure out which A900 you guys are. The easiest suggestion I have is to sand the ends of the cupola or the carbody, as both would have the number under several layers. C&O continued to use the PM's Numbering system into the 1960's, so it may not be that deep. If you need help, I'm through your area a fair amount, as my wife's family is from Ohio. As you may guess, also a member of PMHS. Oh yeah, and information above courtesy PMHS website! TJ > We at the Steam Railroading Institute are > starting restoration of are PM A909.
