You want to save your equipment? Fix your track!

The thread below on Old Hands talks about how an engineer can beat up equipment, but your track can beat things up even worse. By definition a railroad IS it's track. Good track makes everything easier.

Hear, hear. Our track is pretty rough at SCRM, which contributed to our diner being removed from service. A derailment back in the '70s broke a spring, and our bad track made the break worse this past season. The car's now out of service until we get a replacement spring.

Fortunately, we have a TEA-21 grant to bring the track up to a good solid Class III, which we'll continued to call Class I.
