Our government (BC) is in off-loading mode and is going to privatize the railway inspection branch.

Does anyone out there have private inspectors that are required to conduct your inspections?

What are you paying for your annual inspection?

Does the system work for you?

Speaking in very general terms, most operating steam railroads which are regulated by the US Federal Railway Administration have paid or volunteer staff capable of doing the daily, monthly, annual, 5 year and 15 year inspections. It isn't uncommon for smaller operators to hire a consultant to assist with the 15 year inspection / Form 4 survey and documentation.

Canadian laws must be different from those in the USA, so our experience won't necessarily apply in BC. Personally, I think you ought to apply for the job and get paid to do your own. You can always donate it back......
