Could use some organized TLC from area enthusiasts.

Actually, she doesn't look bad in this setting. A shed roof, perhaps a coat of paint and some new boiler jacketing. While her cab interior is a mess, it isn't unrestorable. This is one of the Virginia ex-C&O Kanawhas that has potential for operation someday....

Yeah but I know where a nearly operable Kanawha is sitting, waiting for its third chance at operation. Although I do hope that all of the Virginia Kanawhas are put in good hands that will care for them, and not let them deteoriate as they have in the past.

OK. But just what IS the status of # 2716. Is anything being done...or planned?

The Old Dominion Chapter, NRHS used to have some folks who enjoyed working on their collection of equipment (their 0-6-0T), and also helped Jack Showalter. Anyone know if they're planning to do any cosmetic work on this loco? Or would the state arrange that?

For now, just cosmetic stabalization. Last year, we pulled her out for the Day Out With Thomas event, and she was a big hit. This year, we are going to try to put the numberboards, headlight, and bell back on her, to give a better appearence.

I know I'm gonna catch hell for this, but if you want to make an even better appearance, center that headlight on the smokebox door, leave the number boards off and give me a brass eagle above the headlight...Heh Heh Heh...
