Oilburning Challenger pushing hard on a freight train in Utah, in August 1957. It would later acquire a six-digit number and be used for snow melting duties in the North Platte yard. Scrapping came near in the late 1960s, when a group of employees petitioned to have it towed to a local park. http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/up/up-s3710abn.jpg ryarger@rypn.org |
