As I understand it, the Historical society that oversaw the group working on the locomotive decided not to complete the restoration, and the locomotive was reassembled and stuffed.

I believe this is the Group that owns or at least manages the whole complex.

Last I heard, the folks at the Fillmore & Western had been hired to reassemble it. Have they made any progress? Surely someone must know.

I responded to a similar question a few weeks ago. Yes as far as I know the main static restoration is complete. The board decided not to restore the locmomotive to operating condition. The locmotive belongs to the Santa Clarita Valley Historical Society. I would check their website but I do not believe they have any recent pictures.
