Post subject:  B&M Lisbon, NH Depot Saved

The former B&M depot in Lisbon, NH will preserved at its original site by a local group. A group of local historians helped develop a preservation alternative to plans to move the depot out of state.

For images, look at the Lisbon entry at:

The B&M right-of-way south of the depot was abandoned and taken away (literally in spots) during the past 10 years. Much political hulabaloo surrounded the abandonment of the recently-viable route, and quite honestly, the debacle is what made me rethink my position on rails-to-trails. Unlike New Hampshire's otherwise progressive rail banking program, this former B&M mainline was allowed to be destroyed quickly, and for rather spurious reasons.

So, it is quite wonderful to see a bonafide preservation effort come along the troubled route.

Good luck, Lisbon team!
