We have restored the old 1875 Chicago & Eastern Illinois depot here in Princeton, Indiana. We have also restored Wabash caboose 2856 as a static display on a short piece of track. We would like to find and old steel box car (reasonable) that we could restore as a display and use for needed storage space. Can anyoune help us? gibsonjr@sigecom.net |

As of a few years ago, BNSF still had some nice 40 foot steel box cars in MOW service. Most are now gone, but if you are quick, they might still have a few. Any of the museums have one that needs a good home?? I will say one thing, a 50 footer in front of the depot with the caboose would probably look pretty awful. nwstaybolt@reachone.com |

Try contacting David Thebodo of Anderson Steel Flange Railroad Equipment Company in Fairfield, Iowa. Last I heard, he had a bunch of boxcars he was selling at a reasonable price. He's really good at working with preservation groups, and also has some real good connections for arranging transportation of equipment at reasonable prices. His contact information is: Email: caboose@kdsi.net Phone (641) 472-2020 Fax (641) 472-7927 Boyd bowens@rypn.org |
