Hi Looking at the Fort Wyane Web site it says that the Burk should be ready for 2004. What is the status of the locomotive, any chance that it will be doing some excursions this year? Where can the run the locomotive? 10 years ago when 765 last ran CSX & NS where still steam frendly, It is a much deffrent world now for steam. -justin qcmrs18@yahoo.com |

Well, I think it's no real secret that they'll join the Ohio Central for TrainFest 2004 this summer if possible. Certainly OHCR will welcome them if they're ready. eledbetter@rypn.org |

We plan to have 765 at Trainfest assuming her July completion goal is met. Be on the lookout for excursion announcements within the next couple of months. It seems that late summer and fall of this year will be busy for the locomotive. Several excursions are tentatively scheduled and contracts will be signed as soon as a completion date can be guaranteed. Excursions are also in the works for 2005 which should prove very interesting. The group will spend some time next winter installing cab signals in preparation for the 2005 events. Although things are tough out there for mainline steam, 765 has an excellent track record and our Chief Operations Officer Rich melvin is amazing when it comes getting the support of railroad officials. There have actually been excursions in the planning stages for the past few years. You certainly don't spend this kind of money on such a thorough rebuild unless you know you can run when you are finished. |

Here's the straight story, although David hit the mark very closely. 2004 OPERATIONS - AUGUST - SEPTEMBER: We intend to have the 765 ready for participation in the Ohio Central TrainFestival 2004 on July 31-31 and Aug. 1. Additional operations are in the works on the Ohio Central for September. We'll post the details once we firm up the plans and iron out the business details. 2004 OPERATIONS - OCTOBER: We're not ready to go public with specifics on this yet, but the 765 will run several trips in Indiana in October. We'll post the details when everything is in place for these events and the tickets are ready to be sold. 2004 OPERATIONS - NOVEMBER: There may be a couple more weekends of trips in Ohio before we go home for the winter. Details in a few months. When the 765 is ready for the road, we intend to seek Amtrak approval to operate the 765 under their operating authority, just as Steve Sandberg has done with the 261. New River Trains? Not in 2004. 2005 OPERATIONS: Several interesting venues are under discussion for 2005. It is far to early to discuss the details, but there are plans in the works now to operate the 765 in 2005 in some new places...and some previously visited places. Keep your eye on our web site, especially the 765 Overhaul Fund page. We still need to raise several thousand dollars to get the overhaul work completed. NKP 765's Web Site rich@765.org |

>It is with pleasure that I have had some time to speak with Rich M and some of the rest of the group at the 765 project. As has been posted a number of times, the door is open for 765, and others, to operate on the Ohio Central. Jason Johnson, myself and the others at the OC steam Department are hopefull that the 765 will be finished in time for TrainFestival and other events this year. We look forward to working with the 765 group and encourage all to view the 765 web page and offer as much support as you can. The future of main line steam is dependant upon the completion of locomotives like 765 and others inlcuding all of our locomotives at the Ohio Central. Keep up the good work. and SUPPORT THIS PROJECT WITH $$$$$$$$ John E.
