Kansas City Southern 0-8-0 1023 at Shreveport, LA in 1950. It is on display at Pittsburg, KS today, the only KCS steamer saved.

Bob:

The 1023 was originally built as a 2-8-0 in 1906 and converted to an 0-8-0 by KCS in 1925. From the looks of her, it appears that it was a simple conversion; lop the pilot wheels off, add a sand dome and move the bell behind the stack. Kind of a neat little engine. I know I'd love to see her at our museum. What kind of shape is she in today? Anyone know? Hope their taking care of her.
