Virginia & Truckee "Empire" No. 13 2-6-0, when stored in the 1950s. I think this was at the Western Pacific shops in Oakland. Some difference from today!

At the Western Pacific Oakland roundhouse, along with other artifacts that would later end up at Sacramento.

Not all went to Sacramento. Sacramento Northern wood combine 1005, shown to the left in all three photos, is preserved at the Western Railway Museum at Rio Vista Junction, Solano County, California, where it is currently undergoing a $200,000 frame up restoration. It will soon be operation on a long stretch of restored SN tracks also owned by the Museum.
