Does anyone know any true facts such as the date, builder, wheel arrangement, or details of how the following locomotives are believed to be sunken underwater in the State of Washington: One at Oyster Creek near Blanchard, one in Lake Stevens that fell into the water from a burning trestle at the Rucker Brothers sawmill in May 1920, an engine and loaded coal cars that fell from a ferry into Lake Washington, and an engine supposedly buried near Beacon Rock State Park. I believe the engine listed as sunk in the canal at Thorp has been recovered and moved to Moses Lake. Is this correct? Thankyou.

Here is the info I have.

Oyster Creek: No additional Info on this one.

Lake Stevens: This engine I believe is ex V&T 2-6-0 15 "Aurora". It would have been Danforth builder #884

Lake Washington: This engine belonged to the Seattle Coal & Transportation Company. In January 1875, the sternwheeler Chehalis was rounding the northwest point of Mercer Island when a gale blowing from the south tipped the barge it was towing and sent 18 cars plunging into the lake. They remain where they sank, well preserved in 200 feet of water, many of them upright and still carrying their cargoes of coal.

Beacon Rock State Park: The engine is a 2-6-0(1ft 3in ga), that is all I have on that one.

Thorp: No additional information on this one.

It is an 0-4-0T

This one was built by Sandley Light Equip. Works in 1961. It is what most would think of as an amusement park locomotive; but it is a steam locomotive.
