Post subject:  What happened to this RS1?

For a brief time about 25 years ago, a portion of Vermont's Clarendon & Pittsford was used for a tourist train by the Otter Valley RR. They did just a bit of engine work at the Proctor enginehouse (made of marble blocks and still standing), including an ex-Long Island RS1 and (I think) a couple of Alco switchers. The operation didn't last long and the original C&P tracks were removed (today's C&P is the former D&H Rutland Branch). Anyone know what happened to the RS1?

I think it went to Indiana Boxcar, as did the #467, not headed back home.

Could you elaborate? I remember heraing that the Twin Forks Chapter NRHS has signed a letter of intent to purchase the unit, and has an active fund raising campaign. Is this effort being stopped?

Thanks
Tom

Tom,

The Twin Forks Chapter, NRHS is still actively raising funds to purchase and move ex-LIRR RS-1, #467. For a historic and up-to-date report on the Chapter's efforts, please view the following thread on Railroad.Net

Thanks for the interest and support.
