I'm assuming that the red thing on page two is some type of spreader, but it certainly doesn't look like anything I've ever encountered, was that homebuilt or "kitbashed"?

2523's sister P-2 2507 is snug as a bug under a new shelter in Wishram, Washington.

These are engines with a great reputation among the trainmen who operated them. Perhaps we'll see one of them with a fire in her belly one day.

Too bad she can't double headed with SP&S 700, which could've happened if the plans for a running restoration had gone through. But she's safe for now!
