I thought I read something about the Stourbridge Lion replica will operate this summer. The Wayne County Historic Society website does not mention it but the Stourbridge.com website from the UK does. Does anyone have the details?

Thanks,

Tom

I am the secretary of the Stourbridge Lion 175th Committee and can confirm that there is currently an effort underway to operate the Stourbridge Lion replica this summer. At this time, we are optimistic that we will be able to steam the Stourbridge Lion replica, but cannot yet say conclusively as insurance issues are still being worked out.

As far as a web site is concerned, we have a temporary one on Geocities, but will relocate and expand it to stourbridgelion.com in the near future.

If anyone is interested in learning more about the project, please visit the web site or e-mail me. The Stourbridge Lion replica is currently on display at the Wayne County Historical Society in Honesdale, PA, but will be temporarily moved off site in the near future so that it can be refurbished, tested, certified, and upgraded (it needs a water glass and secondary feed water source). The goal is to operate it under steam on August 8, 2004 on a dual gauge siding behind the museum.
