Post subject:  Lack MU's in Mechanicville, NY *PIC*

A couple of interesting photos were recently posted on the NERails.org site. They show two Lackawanna MU cars, 3528 and 3570, stored at the B&M yard in Mechanicville, NY in August of 1990. It appears that 3528 might have sustained some wreck damage to one end. Does anyone know how these cars got to Mechanicville, and whatever became of them? Thanks.

Frank,

I have no idea on the disposition of these cars, but if I had to guess, the vestibule damage might have been due to having the car humped somewhere in transit.

As you know, we roster the DL&W MU power car #2628 at the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum. It has a much less pronounced, but similar vestibule droop due to the car being humped on route to our museum many years ago even with it marked "DO NOT HUMP" in several places.

Until later,
Chris
