Sandley 4-4-0 on e Bay

It is 15" gauge.

Man, that's a piece of history. It was built in 1952 for the Hoot, Toot & Whistle Railroad, a park line in Elgin, Ill.

My question is, why is this somewhat significant Sandley River loco for sale? Is the Riverside & Great Northern that hard up for cash? Is it privately owned with a falling-out?

As a current R&GN member I received an interesting notice this past week that stated the board is meeting this Sat 2/28/04 to discuss purchsing engine #98. I always understood the engine was privately owned by Tom Lines so maybe Tom has decided to cash out and buy something bigger. Who knows.
The engine had been overhauled at R&GN last winter(see their web page pix)and ran this past fall on members weekend. I knew her way back when when she ran on the Hoot Toot & Whistle. She's a nice 15" steamer.

While you're at it, you guys should try to buy the HT&W station, which is still in its original location. The site is now an RV dealership, and the station is usually surrounded by RVs bigger than the building, but it appears to be in good shape. Doesn't appear to be used for anything, though, so it might be available.
