Another growler for the collection...

I'm happy to pass along word that NCTM is the recipient of a donated FM, No. 1860, from the N.C. Ports Authority in Morehead City. The engine is ex-Army and is operating condition. It should arrive at Spencer in March.

This marks a nice addition to a mostly EMD collection that MM John Bechtel arranged, and Diesel MM Donnie Smith helped get her ready to go in tow on NS. It also continues our statewide coverage--from the mountains to the sea.

It and the new F40PH will be among many attractions at this year's 17th annual Rail Days Festival, May 1 and 2. An acceptance ceremony will kick off the weekend. Details and ticket purchase should be on line next week.

As we say here in the South, "Come visit!"

Since NCTM is about statewide coverage are there any plans to ever represent the Clinchfield? If none of the ex-CRR 4-6-0s or F units are available about one of the SD45-2s.I believe one ex-CRR Montana Rail Link SD45-2 is leased to Norfolk Southern right now.

There's a CC&O wood caboose that is in excellent condition, on permanent loan from the Samuel Spencer Chapter NRHS. Let's hope something CRR as far as freight equipment or motive power does come available one day. Even though we have been blessed with some strategic donations, the aim is upkeep and improvement of the existing roster of display and operating equipment.
