Just a photo taken in St. Albans in 1978, showing a newly overhauled GP9, just received, that never made a trip on the CV in this condition. Originally a Grand Trunk (New England Lines) passenger unit (used jointly on the CV also), it had been shipped back to Battle Creek for a complete overhaul. On its way back, the dead and drained unit was started in Montreal without adding cooling water. By the time it reached St. Albans, the new engine had seized. Much discussion centered on who should pay for the damage. Ultimately, it went back to the GTW for a new prime mover and stayed there.
