I was onboard the train at the 1989 NRHS Convention at Asheville. 587 pulled an all-day trip to Bulls Gap, Tenn. The 587 was sporting the beautiful chime whistle from "Engineer Nichols" on the N&W Abingdon Branch, which is featured in the Link record "The Fading Giant". Being on the train means that I did not get much of a good recording that day, and I always wondered if anyone else did! Thanks for any leads! SG |

The video "Assault on Asheville (Trackside Video) has 18 minutes' worth of 587 between Asheville and Bulls Gap with Nichol's whistle. Mailing address Trackside Video P.O.
