Post subject:  Arizona Copper engine?

Is this photo one of those 20-inch gauge dinkies of the Arizona Copper Co., which sat at the mine near Clifton, AZ for years before being finally preserved?

Post subject:  Where are they now?

There was one 20" 0-4-4T on display in Clifton. I remember it being hauled to Tucson for a parade when I lived there in the late 60s and early 70s. There were three more on a mountain top near Morenci. They had been hauled up an incline and no one had the courage to let them back down with the old cable after the railroad ceased operations. In the late 70s, after I moved to Colorado, I asked for and a received permission from Phelps Dodge to hike up to the locos, Like an idiot, I never found the time to do this. I would be interested in knowing where the display loco and the three mountain-top locos are currently located. Anyone know?

Post subject:  Four plus one are preserved!

Four of the Coronado RR 20" Porters are preserved, plus one of the Detroit Coper Co. Porters was saved as well.

There is a great article by Mal Ferrell in the March issue of Finescale Railroader. Forty two pages, with maps, plans, rosters and lots of great photos. This is almost a small book! Typical Mal Ferrell high quality presentation!
