Does anyone know the name and production company of a video covering the 1989 Independence Limited? The video that I am curious about is the video that they used to show in the Virginia Museum of Transportation gift shop. NS Steam engineer Jack Taylor narrates part of the video during some cab sequences. Thanks in advance. Goose Creek Railroad gcrrmch@aol.com |

IIRC, Berkshire Videography had a great tape of this trip....but there may have been others. drotarinoh@webtv.net |

Bill is right. Berkshire Productions (Berkshire Videography, Inc.) produced a 90-minute video documentary about the 1989 Independence Limited. We were the "Official" production company of that event, working side by side with the Roanoke Chapter Folks and the Norfolk Southern Railroad. But as Bill said, I'm sure other video producers made programs as well. The train departed Cleveland, OH (Rocky River) with the 611 and in Bellvue, OH, NKP 587 was added to the train. Both locomotives doubleheaded for the remainder of the first day and the next three, finishing in Roanoke, VA. The tape finishes with the introduction to our sequel tape "Assault on Ashville" with 587, 611 & 1218 tripleheading from Roanoke on the way to that year's NRHS Convention in Ashville, North Carolina. I have not been involved in the video business for some 10-years now, but those were some great times. Anyone interested in purchasing this video might try Steve Neff at Neff Video. Thanks for the memories Bill, those were some great times! beam@tusco.net |
