Post subject:  Tweetsie
I have always wanted to visit the Tweetsie. How many of you have been there, it has been around for a long time, but I never hear anything about it. Do railfans stay away because it is an amusemant park? Is the park railfan friendly? How is it taking pictures out on the line? Do any of you have any stories about this place

For starters visit their website. They have one of the best locomotive shops in the country.

If you're interested in steam locomotive history then consider that USA 190, the first MacArthur type locomotive that Baldwin built, after working on the WP&YR for many years in the 40s and 50s, now works at Tweetsie.

Tweetsie is a magnificent place for railfans and their young families (kids 11 & under)as well. The trains start their trips up a grade and tackle another (albeit short) one greater than 4%. The engineers and shop staff are especially friendly, though even more so on the convention dates of the ET&WNC historical society. Join the "Tweetsie" group at Yahoo for one of the best informed and friendly groups on the internet.
