Did N&W office cars carry names and numbers? I am specifically interested in "Lambert's Point". Did this car carry a number for the N&W or NS? Thanks. Don C. http://www.261.com milw261@sbcglobal.net |

Speaking of NS office cars. Is Clator Lake still owned by NS? Or was that one of the cars sold. I cant imagine they would get rid of it but I havent seen it on any NS business trains since the end of the steam program. gu292901@ohio.edu |

> At least at the end time of the merger the office cars carried names and numbers. I don't have a diagram book in front of me but cars were named Claytor Lake, Lamberts Point, Pocohontas (sp?), Blue Ridge. The Roadway inspection car ws the Alta Vista and the dining car that was in special train service were named for General William Mahone. The cars were numbered in the 100's, i.e. 100, 200 , 300 etc. The Claytor Lake is still owned by NS. It was the first (and still may be the only) non CR car to be rebuilt to Amtrak standards. I'll check the book and see if I can give you more detailed info if someone else doesn't post it first. Tim Andrews Chattanooga, TN tandrews@researchcouncil.net |

I'll look forward any additional information concerning Lamberts Point's number (if any). Don C. http://www.261.com milw261@sbcglobal.net |
