Does anyone know the status of the Royal Hudson 2860. I've checked the WCRA webpage and it looks like they havent updated in a long time. The last I heard the engine was supposed to be getting a complete overhual. Is it being worked on at the moment or is it still sitting in front of the station? If it is being worked on what is getting done to it and when can we expect to see it running again. Thanks, Greg

2860 has been moved from display in front of our station to track 1 inside our shop. She has been inspected by Doyle McCormick. So far the boiler will be re-tubed, front and rear tube sheets re-newed on the upper half to two thirds, superheaters repaired and/or replaced as determined, staybolts to be replaced as required, firebox repairs, arch tubes and sleeves to be installed and the brick arch installed. As far as the rest of the locomotive and tender are concerned, there is virtually no work required as it is all in excellent condition. The locomotive bpoiler work will be done to the new Canadian standards which is really the FRA standard given a new name. The only kicker is that they want an event recorder installed. How????
We are fundraising at this time with several significant asks out to various agencies and individuals. The target is to have her ready for the 2010 Olympics or sooner depending on cash flow.
We are fortunate that the team at BCR kept the engine in very good condition. It has made our task a lot easier. Now for the "political stuff"

Perhaps you could contact Thomas Payne or someone at the Elgin County Railway Museum, supposedly 2100 had an event recorder installed when she was butchered, er, I'm sorry, "converted" to burn oil.
