Post subject: Climax Boiler Drawing APB
PostPosted: Thu Mar 11, 2004 1:36 am

Hi Everyone:

It looks like everybody is looking for drawings! I am trying to find a good representative boiler drawing for Clark Trading Post's ex-BeeBee River Railroad Climax. It is about a 50 ton two truck machine with a builder's number, #1603.

Does anybody have any clues if something like this exists? I have been told that Vancouver Machinery Depot in British Columbia modified geared engine boilers to meet more stringent B.C. codes and someone may have saved their drawings.

Any help with this search would be greatly appreciated.

Bill, hopefully you may get a response from Tom Shreve at Roaring Camp. He may have some clues. I have done research with him and there is not much remaining due to a flood and the loss of most company records and prints. What was saved is in the new Climax book.

The Union Iron Works built the boilers for Climax and Heisler Locomotives. Their records are in the country of India, and to our knowlege, none of the early history or drawings were saved during the transistion.

Roaring Camp does have a Climax boiler from Baker White Pine #3 a 45 ton engine. If you are ever in the bay area of CA stop by and Tom will bend your ear!
