Ran across this thread indicating noted California photographer Richard Steinheimer may be in the early stages of Alzheimers disease. Anyone know more? If it's true, I believe it to be a private matter not fit for discussion on this board (as I likewise believed about a similar allegation on this board about a week or so ago about another noted individual). As with the similar case, the reality of the situation is becoming among the most "open secrets" out there. I believe the only concern for us as individuals is to trust that the fruits of their labors are properly prepared for transition to a secure future, be it a collection of equipment or a work of photography/literature. I understand "Stein's" stuff is safe from the trash can--this from several sources on the Western rail scene close to him whom I trust. LNER4472-NOSPAM-@bcpl.net |

Possibly a private matter, but possibly not, depending on how far it may have progressed. Given an address, he might like some words of encouragement, as there are some treatments available for the early stages. Thank you all for your concern about Dick. Unfortunately, he is in the middle stages of Alzheimer disease, but he is handling it with such grace. Not a whimper, whine or "why me" has passed his lips. He still has a twinkle in his blue eyes and sometimes a wicked sense of humor. I am protecting his images and legacy like a mother wildcat hovering over her kit. Dick kept everything, letters, notes, receipts and every gift given to him. Dick will be coming home tomorrow after a short stay in a skill nursing facility to regulate his medication. Old friends are welcome to come by to visit if you're in the Sacramento area. He does remember many of you. Please drop his name in your prayer box even if he may not need the extra boost of help, it can't hurt. Shirley wmn4rails@earthlink.net |
