Bennett Levin's other E unit

I recently found RYPN and I think it is a great resource. I noted with great interest the guest editorial on RYPN by Bennett Levin about his ex-Erie E unit. I was wondering if he ever came to a decision about what he was going to paint it. I don't recall seeing anything else about it.

Eric and I believe that the 4022 will remain as is for the foreseeable future. The locomotive is stored indoors and the only item that is missing are the batteries which froze while the locomotive was stored on CSXX. We have absolutely no intention of using the engine as an organ donor to keep the 5711 and 5809 running. We have purchased a spare nose, a spare carboady (B&O 36), spare trucks, spare grillage, spare pilots, and all other kinds of "goodies" to sustain the two PRR engines.

The 4022 will remain stored indoors befitting the artifact that it is.

Running two locomotives in the current climate that is more than overtly hostile to railfan excursions is sufficient challange to occupy the time and energy of grown men. We have other restoration projects that have a higher current priority than the 4022 and as they said years ago, for the time being we will, "Let Conrail be Conrail"!

Bennett, I think it's great that you choose to get involved in this forum, passing on the truth from the owner's perspective. Killing myths and legends is as important to locomotive preservation as is having an information network like this one.

Hello Mr. Levine,
Keep up the good work and thanks for saving the Conrail OCS engines. I look forward to seeing what you have out when I go by your place on the way to Camden. Thanks again.
