Here's a summary of the railroad records holdings at the Pennsylvania State Archives, in Harrisburg, Pa.:

RAILROAD RECORDS AT PENNSYLVANIA STATE ARCHIVES,
HARRISBURG, PA

MG-48 Fall Brook Railroad & Coal Company Records, 1768 (1819-1936)-1938, 371 cu. ft.
MG-274 Lehigh Valley RR Co. Records, 1849-1982, 632 cu. ft.
MG-286 Penn Central Railroad Collection & Deposit, c.1816-1981, 4,855 cu. ft. (Includes PRR records and original equipment drawings from the Office of the Chief of Motive Power)
MG-300 Erie Lackawanna Railway Co. Deposit, 1832-1976, 177 cu. ft.
MG-311 Lehigh Coal & Navigation Co. Records, 1792-1978, 406 cu. ft.
MG-427 Baldwin-Hamilton Collection, c.1854-1960, 1,106 cu. ft. (Includes many original engineering drawings for post-1941 Baldwin-built locomotives.)
MG-401 Delaware & Hudson Railway Co. Records, 1887-1959, 11.2 cu. ft.
MG-393 Pullman-Standard Car Manufacturing Co., of Butler, Pa. Records, c.1902-1970, 155 cu. ft.

I believe most of the corporate records of the Pittsburgh&Lake Erie were donated to the University of Pittsburgh.
