I'm sorry- I had a hard time following the "flue extension" part of this and what loco it applies to. I've often wondered about the status of these locomotives...

So this loco has had flues removed, all visual, NDT and metallurgy done, Form 4 worked up and is just awaiting re-installation of flues, hydrostatic tests and the usual systems and debugging work and FRA inspections ?

And this loco is not yet stripped for inspection, etc. ?

How many folks work on these locomotives - is it a handful of guys or a big organization, etc ?

Does anyone know the length and type of the turntable offered at Atlanta by NS? Also the one at the doomed roundhouse at Altoona, Wisconsin?
