You're quite right Dave. That's the way I've operated and always get good cooperation.
My colleague received good cooperation, but there was a general feeling that the restrictions on non-profit sharing with other modelers was a bit too much. The other factor is timing. They're generally more cooperative in the off season vs the summer tourist rush. Mike

There's two Fairbanks Morse engines for sale on EBAY, from same seller, said to be operable but out of date. Posting so that perhaps they find good home. I have no financial interest in the sale and am not a bidder. (sigh)
