There have been several major developments lately concerning the preservation of the site of Bethlehem Steel and the future of the National Museum of Industrial History. The developer that was planning on buying the site of Bethlehem Steel has dropped its plans and is no longer involved in the project. This means that a new developer can be sought while new, or at least updated, plans for the site are formulated by local groups. Yesterday they introduced a leadership council of 30 members who will undertake fundraising activites needed for the construction of Exposition Hall. More details are available at: http://www.mcall.com/news/local/all-a1_ ... 6289.story Clicking on the photograph to the right of the story will lead to eight images showing some of the artifacts on loan from the Smithsonian. Among the objects pictured is the flywheel from a civil war era stationary steam engine built in Norwalk, CT, a Frick Eclipse portable steam engine, and an 1882 Otto Silent Gas Engine. Finally, Save Our Steel, the grassroots group that is aiding preservation efforts, have updated their web site and now have a guest book and discussion forum that can be used to make suggestions for the reuse of the site.
