Post subject: Edaville auction tomorrow (4-28)
PostPosted: Tue Apr 27, 2004 9:41 am

Looks like all the current Edaville equipment (and displays) will be auctioned tomorrow, 4-28-04.

It is not being auctioned piecemeal, but rather
as the entire group only. Strange to see the 2-foot Thomas on the same list with ex-B&HS #250.

Hello all,

Does anybody have more information (photos, heritage, current condition, etc.) of the the following. I know that 22 below, is a former MBTA F-10 (nee GM&O F-3) that currently looks more like a 1:1 scale reproduciton of a TYCO HO scale locomotive. I was not aware of the others, however. Are these actually B&M equipment or just repaints? In any case, given current scrap prices I am not optimistic about the survival of these pieces.

22. Santa Fe Diesel Locomotive - Static
23. 250 B & M Steam Locomotive - Static

31. B & M Diesel Engine Static Display

Tom, not sure about #31 on that list, but #23 is most definitely former Bonhomie & Hattiesburg Southern 2-6-2 #250. She also spent time on the WK&S and later the Wolfeboro Railroad.

Of the Two Foot Cars listed, are any from Maine or are those listed ones that where built by CranRail/Edaville?

A photo of ex-MBTA 1153 by John Bay, July, 2001 via http://photos.nerail.org . Depending on body rust, this unit would may be a good candidate for remanufacturing back to F-3 specs, as I would imagine most of its components upgraded to F-10 specs have already been removed. Any person attempting such a rebuild would have the advantage of working with Paducah slab-sides which, as the Levins have demonstrated, are relatively easy to cosmetically back-date.

Unfortunately, I do not know of any midwestern or southern museums that could afford to pay for shipping - let alone pay for the unit's scrap value.

Weight may not be an issue, the unit is basically empty. I believe it was going to be converted into some sort of theater, not sure if they ever went through with that plan.

It's my prediction that the present operator will end up the high bidder and opening again in the present location. I think this is just a way to clear out the outstanding debt and start over again. That's why it is being auctioned as one unit.

Apparently there has been a change of heart, and the items listed will be auctioned off individually. I should quit making predictions...

Marty is just trying to equal my record.....

Sensibly, how many interested parties can afford to bid as much for the package as many smaller wallets combined could bid for its pieces?

Sorry, Steve - the Red Sox won't make it to the Super Bowl!

Actually, the Red Sox and the Cubs will meet in the World Series this year, but neither team will win.
