Alton & Southern 0-8-0 No. 12, at East St. Louis, Illinois in 1947. This big 0-8-0 has been at Museum of Transport for many years. Three-cylinder engine.

Is that part of a feedwater heater that looks like a second stack?

That is the top of the front end throttle.

Thanks Jack, can't recall seeing many like this, more used to seeing elescos and coffin feedwater heaters up there.
