Grizzly Flats station, history.

hello,
I am digging for some history on this station..
Found out it was based on a Lehigh Valley Station!
in "Pottsville NY"
according to this site: (linked below)

well,,I just couldnt find a "Pottsville NY" anywhere!
no references to it at all anywhere on the internet..weird.
So I went and got my "LV Bible" (a LV book by Robert Archer)
and looked up Pottsville..
turns out its Pottsville PA!
the author of that Ward Kimball info got the state wrong..
or the wrong info has been passed down through Disney history..
the LV had a Pottsville branch deep in the Pennsylvania anthracite fields..

So now im looking for 2 things..
anyone ever see any drawings of this station?
(the Ward kimball version is probably much more likely to have drawing than the original LV version)
and im looking for a prototype photo of the LV station..

The station was based directly on a drawing that Ward Kimball found in the book on Railroad Architecture.There was a front elevation and a rudimentary floor plan which the art department at Disney Studios used to create the depot set for "So Dear To My Heart" that later was rebuilt extensively by Ward for his Grizzly Flats Depot.

Scale plans were published of the Grizzly Flats depot in Railroad Model Carftsman or Model Railroader in the 70's, maybe 80's????? I know they were printed, just not sure when. Carstens's or Kalmbach Publishing should be able to help.

Yes, plans were published in Model Railroader I believe- I'd have to back through the issues, though. I did find that book I mentioned was titled "Buildings and Structures of American Railroads" Part 4, originally published in 1893 and reprinted as Train Shed Cyclopedia No. 24 in 1974. There is a front and side elevation and a floor plan as well as a brief descrition on size and construction. The depot was on the Lehigh Valley Pottsville Branch.

Another Grizzly Flats station I wonder about is the copy built by Keystone for the Alabama and Historama. Was the station lost at the time the railroad flooded?

further on the Kimball building, I assume it is still located on the family properity. Is it going
to go to Orange Empire with his rolling stock?

Yes, the station is still on the family property, as is Chloe (0-4-4T?) and a visiting Davenport saddletanker. They had a steam-up about six months ago, complete with live music. Train was Chloe and a four-wheel open air car (Disneyland horsecar came to mind). My wife and I live about a block away (whistle is audible from our yard) and were invited in. Not many neighborhoods have their own steam railroad. I've not heard of any plans to move the depot.
