Who can provide current information about the three cars from Vienna, Austria currently stored in San Diego? What are their Vienna roster numbers, and how did they get to California? We lost a Viennese car and trailer in our fire (shown here).

The three ex-Vienna streetcars in San Diego are owned by the San Diego Electric Railway Association and are stored temporarily at the light rail system's yard. Judging by one photo of the cars, while single truck they are newer than the cars lost in National Capitol' fire. The SDERA hopes to build a one mile line on which two of the cars would be operated with the third reserved for spares. How the cars got to San Diego and how the $1+ million needed to construct the operating line remains to be known.

I have learned that the Vienna cars in San Diego appear to be Statenbahn Cars used on an elevated trolley line in Vienna.
