There was a great analogy made one time about organizations and the twelve apostles. The point was made that 12 were, at times petty, self absorbed, vain, cowardly and unlikely candidates to start a worldwide organization-one was a traitor- but they were willing to sign on. Of course their leader was fully aware of their failings.

In the end, they were focused, persistent and willing to die for the cause. The key was leadership.

People in every endeavor come with assorted failings and foibles. Its necessary to accept people as they are, especially when we want them to GIVE their time. Of course, some folks may have a critical mass of problems that makes them unfit for duty. Distinguishing between the annoying and the unfit is the trick.
