Georgia Northern combine No.38 has finally arrived at the Georgia State Railroad Museum, the Roundhouse Railroad Museum in the old Central of Georgia shops in Savannah, GA, where exterior restoration work will be performed before moving on to Thronateeska Heritage Center in Albany, GA for exhibit. It was placed back on its trucks at 7:00 p.m. May 18, 2004 and, following the obligatory crew photos, moved into the shop next to CofG business car "ATLANTA". The trucks arrived at the museum by flatbed trailer the week before (May 10, 2004) and had been cleaned up a bit before going back under the car. Two months and 10 days in transit, from loading to back on its wheels in the roundhouse. Costs associated with this move will be summarized/generalized and posted here once all of them are in hand.
