The article is ho hum but if you click the IMAGE link, the pictures of this line are very interesting. And they get better the more you look.

So - my question - why aren't there more photos of this line over the years? The line is awesome!

As I understand it:

A. As you can see, it is in the desert. Difficult hiking/biking; especially if you trying to avoid traveling on the right-of-way.

B. It is near the border with Mexico; so lots of illegals pass through this area.

C. Conversely, lots of Border Patrol folks are in this area as well.

D. I believe you have to trespass in order to take the pictures in the show, or of course be invited as they were.

That being said, I have seen pictures of the Goat Canyon trestle and other parts of the line on the net. A Google search should turn them up.

This route is available for free for Microsoft Train Simulator at www.train-sim.com.

The author did a very good job creating the route in as much detail as the simulator will allow. Looking at the 37 pictures, most of those locations are easily and instantly identifiable from the virtual route.

I have spent many enjoyable hours just riding the virtual rails to look at the scenery. If you have MSTS, it is well worth the long download time.
