Post subject:  Ironton RR Combine in Penna.

This topic was discussed at length many months ago but I recently received a request from the Whitehall Township Engineer to put out one last inquiry if anyone is interested in obtaining or documenting the wooden combine that served as the Ironton Railroad Yard Office located in Stiles, PA. The car sits off its trucks and had been used by the railroad as an office for many years before the railroad discontinued operations in the early 1980's. The car is part of the Ironton Rail-Trail and came along with the property when Whitehall Township purchased the remains of the railroad after Conrail removed the rails in 1989-1990. The car is located almost directly under the PA Rt. 145 (MacArthur Road) bridge and is currently termed "derelict".

If anyone is interested in documenting this car or even possibly obtaining it, please contact the Whitehall Township Executive, Glen Solt, at the Whitehall Township building during the week. The phone number is 610-437-5524.
