Post subject: 3751 Folks please contact me
PostPosted: Wed Jun 02, 2004 10:20 am

I would appreciate a contact with someone in charge of the 3751 trip to San Bernardino on June 12th.

One of my customers has an autistic 11 year old whose life is centered around steam, in particular he goes nuts over 3751 and C&TS 484.

The mother contacted me to see what I could do in contacting the group regarding them riding the train from LA. They are willing to fly on the 11th across the country from Maryland, and if tickets are not sold will make a donation to the group.

I have her Cell number and need to let them know something ASAP. I realize this may not be a public trip, but this might be a nice goodwill gesture if something can be worked out. I know his mom buys videos to keep him occupied. This would mean a lot to him and his mom if something could be arranged. I am acting as a go-between only in the matter so call me collect or email me ASAP.

Good luck with the trip.

They buy from me too, and I have to tell you, I have NEVER heard anyone on the phone so HAPPY when I told him that I had programs with the 484 on them.

3751 folks, if you want to see a smile bigger than your engine, find a way to let this little boy tag along!

I spoke with both Greg and Andrea today. Arrangements have been made. This is after all what all this is about isn't it?

What a coincidence! I have a young friend in England with a slightly different syndrome, partially resembling autism. He is nuts over steam locomotives and in particular, any bearing the Union Pacific name or logo. I am not begging a tickets for anything, but I think it is unusual that two little boys with severe disabilities have common ground in the sights, sounds, and operation of steam locomotives.
You guys who are taking up the part of the child who loves the 3751 are doing God's work. Best thing I've read in months!

Bob, as always, you and the 3751 crew are a class act. Have a great trip and give the little railfan our best.

I have had the good fortune of having met Bob K many years ago. Even though we don't get together nearly as often as I would like, take it from me, his word is golden.

Godspeed 3751!

Regards,
Burlington John

PS - Anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Broadway Limited model of 3751 (hope I don't get drummed out of the Burlington Route Historical Society as a result!)
