Post subject:  Wood coaling towers???

Does anyone have any pictures, drawings, links or the such for a wood locomotive coaling structure? I am in the early stages of research to build a 1/2 size working coaling tower for our 30" gauge railway. The photo link shows the 1/2 size water tower built in 1999 by another railway associate and myself for size comparasion. Thanks.

There is still one in Chama, NM on the Cumbres & Toltec. You can see it on the web camera at the link given.

Warren,
Bob Yargers response looks good.
If it helps I found plans for a coaling station on the following site when doing some research that might be an interest to you.

Joseph Follmar has written two books about that focus on engine terminals (book 1) and fuel and water stations (book 2). I have just finished looking through book 2, and I think that it would have what you are looking for - and more. There are many drawings of different varients of coaling stations (wharfs, buckets, chutes, etc.) including two large fold outs. He also goes into detail explaining how they were used and where they were deployed.

This book may also be of interest to operating museums, as several of the designs seem to be readily reproducable in 1 to 1 scale.

The book can be ordered through the Chicago & North Western Historical Society at http://cnwhs.safeshopper.com/1/cat1.htm?261
