I was planning on going up there for their steam up on June 26. Does anyone know why PC Shay #11 is no longer listed as being steamed up?

Thanks for an information,

Brandon

The FRA would be most unhappy if the #11 was steamed up without a current/valid Form 4.

The Heisler, #91 has passed it's hydro, has a form 4 and been re-assembled. It should have been lit off yesterday or the day before.

The #17 is getting some new stays but should also be in service by the 26th.

Climax #10 is in service and has been handling the trains while #17 get's it's maintenance.

Having not been around MRSR for a while the following is the best information I have on hand and may not be one hundred precent correct. That being said.

Pickering #11 was rebuilt before the new FRA rules governing boilers came into effect. MRSR petitioned FRA to accept #11 under the new rules since it was rebuilt within a year or two of the implementation of the rules. They were succesful in getting Hammond #17 grandfathered in the same manner, #17 was rebuild after #11. At this time I beleive the paper work is still being reviewd by FRA. #11 must then wait for word from FRA, if the answer is no #11 must go through the extensive inspection required.

Hope this helps and is at least a little accurate.

I just got off the phone with the GM and Super. The #11 is looking good to get a hydro next week. It just might make it to Morton under it's own power this month... if no problems are found.
