Wow, looks like Lionel is in hot water with everybody. One question, did they ever move production to Mexico as planned? Joahua Cowen must be rolling in his mausoleum. http://www.freep.com/money/business/lionel8e_20040608.htm ryarger@rypn.org |

One question, did they ever move > production to Mexico as planned? I beleive it was China rather than Mexico that production moved to, but otherwise, yes, production at their last US plant in Chesterfield, MI ended in May 2001. Distribution and warehousing remains in Chesterfeld. eledbetter@rypn.org |

Right, I forgot the move to Mexico was some years ago, and produced very poor quality trains, which almost killed the company. > I beleive it was China rather than Mexico > that production moved to, but otherwise, > yes, production at their last US plant in > Chesterfield, MI ended in May 2001. > Distribution and warehousing remains in > Chesterfeld. ryarger@rypn.org |

One newswire today said that Lionel just had a $40 million lawsuit loss in favor of Mike's Train House!! If this jury decision stands, will that put Lionel on the ropes again? Will there be anything left for the UP lawyers to pick over? Bob Kutella 68trolley@comcast.net |

The court found against Lionel for pirating (via a South Korean contractor) plans for MTH trains, which quickly went into Lionel production. The impact was substantial--MTH employment went from over 100 to 57. However, Lionel is appealing the case. LNER4472-NOSPAM-@bcpl.net |
