A British friend helping to restore a tram at Crich Tramway Museum e-mailed a query. The car was built in England in 1921, and everything in it is British except for the changeover switch, which features a brass cover emblazoned "Hart & Hegemann Mfg. Co. U.S.A." Anyone out there have any knowledge of H&H and what became of them? And what contact or business did they have across the pond? Thanks from both of us.

Arrow-Hart & Hegemann was (is) the name of this commercial and industrial electrical equipment supplier. Most of their products are now marked "Arrow-Hart". I think they were originally in Bridgeport, CT.

What business did they have "across the pond"? Nowadays, it's hard to remember that the USA once exported more stuff than it imported-- lost of those exports being industrial equipment, like electrial gear, steam locomotives, etc.

Howard you are close they were in Hartford ,ct They moved out years ago. I think they went to mexico. I think you could find out by asking a ele. trade supplyer. bb
