I'll be in California week of June 21 and probably in Portola on June 22. Can anyone give me the tour? Also, need directions to the Quincy RR enginehouse in Quincy (the one Campbell Scale Models sells an HO version of).

There are signs coming into Portola from both directions directing you to the museum, so that should not be much of a problem.

I don't know if the old Quincy enginehouse is still standing or not. The 2.2 miles of mainline from the Sierra Pacific mill into the town of Quincy was abandoned on the last day of 1969, and the original terminal (including the enginehouse) was abandoned. The right-of-way was donated to the county. The line now terminates in the sawmill, where a new enginehouse was constructed for the railroad.

If the building survives, it serves some other purpose today.

The QRR engine house is a couple of blocks north of Highway 70 behind "Moons" restaurant in Quincy.
Believe it is a county storage shed now and partly fenced off. The unimposing depot is still there too. Otherwise everything is as JDM says.

If you have time, get to the Sierra Pacific mill at east Quincy between 9 AM and 9:30 AM. I think you'd enjoy meeting Chuck, who is the supervisor for the railroad and Carol who is the engineer for that little shortline. Very friendly operation.

A group in Quincy is restoring Spanish Peak Lumber Co. #2, a small narrow gauge Whitcomb gasoline locomotive from the mid 1920's, which used to haul logs to a mill in Meadow Valley (west of Quincy). They plan to operate it on a track at the fairgrounds, which is across the road from the SPI mill. It's not yet on display, but the railroad crew Jimmy mentions might know about it, or else the director of the Plumas County Museum in Quincy certainly does.

The Spanish Peak operation was unique -- they used a railroad to haul logs to the mill, but the rough lumber was hauled by a 4.5 mile aerial tramway over the mountain to Grays Flat on the Western Pacific RR for drying, planing, and shipping. The railroad and tramway were abandoned circa 1930.
